Due to the current state of Lake Reschen, we will unfortunately not be able to organize the International Snowkite Open on Lake Reschen in 2024. We hope that it will work out again next year.

New Date for the Int. Snowkite Open 2022

The Int. Snowkite & Wing Open will take place from 5th - 6th february 2022 at Lake Resia. This year it will be an Italian Championship.

The Int. Snowkite Open 2022 will take place from the 04. - 06.02.2022 at Lake Resia. For three days the international snowkite elite meets at the Lake Resia and delivers exciting competitions in the disciplines Long Distance, Race and Freestyle.

Cancellation of the Snowkite Open 2021 at Lake Resia

We unfortunately have to announce that the Int. Snowkite Open 2021 at Lake Resia cannot take place even after intensive planning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The current situation and the resulting conditions for the implementation of the race and the uncertain future development prompted us to make this decision. As much as we would have loved to host the race, the health of all participants, all helpers and all partners comes first.

We are still highly motivated and look forward with confidence to the next winter season.

The Int. Snowkite Open 2021 will take place from the 22. - 24.01.2021 at Lake Resia. We are looking forward to see you there!

Cancellation of Snowkite Open 2020 at Lake Resia

Ice conditions have considerably worsened over the last few days. There are several overlaps of the ice sheet from coast to coast of the lake, currently dividing Lago Di Resia into 3 zones. Some of these overlaps reach a height of 70cm. Currently there is no snow on the entire surface of the lake, and due to the current temperatures the thickness of the ice is decreasing so that the safety of the competitors cannot be guaranteed anymore. With the forecast of the upcoming week it is expected that the conditions rather worsen.
Therefore, the local organizing authority after consultation with IKA has taken the difficult decision to cancel the SnowKite World Cup stage Resia due to force majeure.

We are aware that this creates problems for the ones that have already registered to the event and have made travel arrangements. We apologise for the inconvenience, but the safety of the riders (and officials on the ice) always has to come first.
